Effect of Optimism Enhancement Programs on Self-esteem and Stress Coping Styles of Middle School Students Victimized by School Violence

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of optimism enhancement programs on self-esteem and stress coping styles of Middle school students victimized by school violence. The program consists of 8 sessions, ten students for the experiment and the control group respectively. No invention was taken with the control group. In order to verify the effectiveness of this program, self-esteem, and stress coping styles were examined by measuring before and after optimism enhancement programs. The findings of this study showed that the optimism enhancement programs significantly increase the level of self-esteem and stress coping styles. Findings and implications of this study are discussed.
